Outpatient Pediatric Cardiovascular Services

In addition to providing treatment for inpatients at Hasbro Children's, Women & Infants Hospital, and other area hospitals, we offer the following outpatient services:

• General cardiac evaluations — diagnosis and management of all forms of congenital and acquired heart disease
• Inpatient and outpatient consultation and patient care
• Outreach programs in southern Rhode Island and Southeastern Massachusetts
• Electrocardiograms, Holter monitors, and event recordings

Echocardiography, including:

• Awake and sedated transthoracic echocardiograms
• Transesophageal echocardiograms (at Hasbro Children's)
• Fetal echocardiograms
• Stress echocardiograms
• "Echo only" referrals are accepted for transthoracic and fetal studies

Cardiopulmonary testing, including:

• Pulmonary function testing
• Treadmill stress testing
• Metabolic stress testing
• Airway provocation studies
• Cardiopulmonary rehabilitation
• Referrals accepted for pulmonary function testing and airway provocation studies
• Preventive cardiology programs, including programs for hyperlipidemia and hypertension. These programs are supported by:
  • Ambulatory blood pressure monitoring
  • Cardiopulmonary and noninvasive cardiac testing
  • Nutritional services
  • On-site outpatient laboratory
• Collaborative program with adult cardiology to care for adults with congenital heart disease
• Behavioral health services to assist children and families with anxiety and stress that can accompany cardiac conditions
• Prenatal cardiac diagnosis and counseling
• Arrhythmia (irregular heartbeat) management
