Search results will first present, in alphabetical order, physicians employed or contracted with Brown University Health or its affiliates, followed by an alphabetical listing of physicians who are in Brown University Health’s network of affiliated providers. At the end of that initial list, you can access an alphabetical listing of community physicians with privileges at Brown University Health hospitals. All physicians in Find a Doctor have the opportunity to have a picture or video posted on the site. Neither the order of physicians, nor the presence or absence of a photo or video, in Find a Doctor is intended to reflect any preference, priority, or recommendation by Brown University Health. Find a Doctor search results are also not based on the volume or value of referrals to Brown University Health or its affiliates from any listed physician. Sean F. Monaghan, MD, FACS, is a surgeon affiliated with Rhode Island Hospital and Miriam Hospital. He is also an assistant professor of surgery at Brown University and a member of the Division of Trauma and Surgical Critical Care and the Division of Surgical Research. His research attempts to understand the biology of RNA splicing in critically ill trauma and surgical patients using acute respiratory distress syndrome (ARDS) as a model disease. Dr. Monaghan has been supported by the American College of Surgeons, the James Carrico Faculty Research Fellowship and the National Institutes of Health as a Pilot Project and Principal Investigator for Project 5 of the CardioPulmonary Vascular Biology Center of Biomedical Research Excellence.
