Selection is based upon your needs and preferences. Search results will first present, in alphabetical order, physicians employed or contracted with Brown University Health or its affiliates, followed by an alphabetical listing of physicians who are in Brown University Health’s network of affiliated providers. At the end of that initial list, you can access an alphabetical listing of community physicians with privileges at Brown University Health hospitals. All physicians in Find a Doctor have the opportunity to have a picture or video posted on the site. Neither the order of physicians, nor the presence or absence of a photo or video, in Find a Doctor is intended to reflect any preference, priority, or recommendation by Brown University Health. Find a Doctor search results are also not based on the volume or value of referrals to Brown University Health or its affiliates from any listed physician. Users are free to select their physician of choice from among all Brown University Health-affiliated medical staff physicians.

Mitchell Levy, MD

http://www.brownmed.orgMitchell Levy, MD is the systemwide director of critical care medicine at Brown University Health. He is also a professor of medicine and chief of the Division of Pulmonary, Critical Care and Sleep Medicine at the Warren Alpert Medical School of Brown University.
Dr. Levy is a council member of the Society of Critical Care Medicine and is co-chair of the Surviving Sepsis Campaign Management Guidelines Committee. He also serves as a senior editor for the Journal of Critical Care as well as chair of the Robert Wood Johnson Critical Care End-of-Life Work Group, a group he has led since its inception in 1998.
Dr. Levy has held leadership positions in the American College of Chest Physicians and the American Thoracic Society. In 2001, Levy chaired the International Educational and Scientific Symposium of the Society of Critical Care Medicine, an organization that also awarded Dr. Levy its Award of Ethics and Distinguished Service Award.
Upon receiving his medical degree from the University of Buffalo, Dr. Levy completed his residency training at the University of Colorado Health System. He is a fellow of the American College of Critical Care Medicine and the American College of Chest Physicians.
