Otolaryngologist

Basit A. Jawad, MD, is a board-certified otolaryngologist at the Lifespan Cancer Institute, specializing in head and neck surgical oncology, microvascular reconstruction, and skull base surgery. His other specialties include the management of airway surgery, thyroid and parathyroid surgery, sinonasal tumors and endoscopic surgery. He serves as a clinical instructor at the Tufts University School of Medicine. 

Dr. Jawad's academic interest includes clinical trials, the study of HPV-related cancers, disparity research and quality improvement initiatives. He has presented at numerous conferences and collaborated on medical research published in academic journals.

He obtained a medical degree from the University of Texas Medical School at Houston. He completed an otolaryngology residency at Tulane University School of Medicine, a head and neck surgical oncology/reconstruction fellowship at the University of Cincinnati College of Medicine, and an endoscopic and open skull base surgery fellowship at Ohio State University.

Dr. Jawad is a member of the North American Skull Base Society, the American Head and Neck Society, the American Rhinologic Society, and the American Academy of Otolaryngology.
