Addiction Medicine Social Worker

Victoria Montagano, MSW, LICSW is a licensed clinical social worker with addiction medicine services for young adults and adults at Lifespan.

As a member of the is The Miriam Hospital’s multidisciplinary consult liaison team, Montagano assists emergency department patients who are admitted for substance use and related reasons. She helps identify and coordinate effective levels of care so that patients can seek appropriate treatment such as residential treatment, crisis stabilization, partial hospitalization program, intensive outpatient program or at an outpatient facility.

Before her position at The Miriam, Montagano obtained experience in counseling for substance use and mental health as a clinical social worker with Lifespan Recovery Center and at CODAC Behavioral Healthcare.

With a master’s degree in social work from Rhode Island College, Montagano gained experience during her academic training through internships with several of Rhode Island’s community and advocacy organizations including Children’s Friend and Service, as a CASA advocate (court appointed special advocate for children), Dorcas International Institute of Rhode Island, and Sojourner House.
