Research Scientist

Shaquanna Brown, PhD, is a member of the faculty of the Center for Behavioral and Preventive Medicine (CBPM) at The Miriam Hospital, and on the COBRE Center for Stress, Trauma, and Resilience (STAR). She joined CBPM previously as an NIH postdoctoral research fellow as part of the Childhood Stress, Trauma, and Resilience (STAR) T32 training program, an intensive research fellowship based at CBPM and Brown department of psychiatry and human behavior. Dr. Brown’s program of research focuses on mechanisms of risk and resilience following childhood adversity, with a particular interest in adolescent risk behaviors such as substance use. Her research is currently supported by a K08 Mentored Clinical Scientist Research Career Development award from the National Institute on Drug Abuse (NIDA) and the STAR COBRE. Dr. Brown earned her doctorate in clinical child psychology at the University of Kansas and completed her clinical psychology internship at Penn State Milton S. Hershey Medical Center.
