Volunteering at Rhode Island Hospital and its Hasbro Children's

Are You Eligible to Volunteer?
Volunteers at both locations must be willing to help others and have an interest in the healthcare community. Please note, all new volunteers must commit to serving as hospital ambassadors (greeters) for the first 30 hours.
- Volunteers at Rhode Island Hospital must be 14 years old or older and commit to at least 100 hours of total service (50 hours for high school students). If you are in high school and would like to volunteer at Rhode Island Hospital, learn more about opportunities for high school students.
- Volunteers at Hasbro Children's must be at least 18 years of age and not in high school.

Requirements for Hospital Volunteers
All volunteers at Rhode Island Hospital and its Hasbro Children's must:
- Review the Volunteer Services Information Guide
- Submit a complete application (found at the end of the Information Guide)
- Interview with volunteer services staff
- Have two reference forms completed
- Complete an orientation about hospital policies and procedures
- Provide an updated immunization record, including proof of COVID-19 vaccination
- Submit to two tuberculosis tests
- Complete an orientation about hospital policies and procedures
- Commit to a minimum of two to four hours each week for at least 100 hours (50 hours for high school students)
- Complete first 30 hours as a greeter
- If under the age of 18, submit a signed permission slip
- Adhere to uniform and dress code policy
- Provide a $12 uniform payment
- Complete a criminal background investigation authorization form (provided by Brown University Health Volunteer Services at time of interview).
