Parenting Matters Spring 2021 Conference

Due to the situation with the Coronavirus (COVID-19) in the United States and locally, the Parenting Matters Spring 2021 Conference will take place virtually, on Zoom.

Bradley Hospital, the nation’s first psychiatric hospital for children, presents its 30th Parenting Matters conference on Saturday, March 20, 2021. This half-day event offers parents, childcare providers, social workers and teachers a unique opportunity to learn from top child development and behavior professionals in a casual setting.

Keynote Presentations

There are two keynote presentations this year. 

  • The Vaccine and Your Family, by Michael Koster, MD, division director of pediatric infectious diseases at Hasbro Children’s Hospital
  • Supporting Parents to Support Their Children's Mental Health, by Karyn Horowitz, MD, chief medical officer at Bradley H -ospital and director of child outpatient psychiatry for Lifespan.

Breakout Sessions

In addition to the keynote presentations, attendees may choose from breakout sessions on a variety of topics addressing the mental health of young people. At the Parenting Matters conference, parents, caregivers and professionals can benefit from the wisdom of top child development and behavior professionals. Breakout sessions will be chosen with the chat feature during the live conference on Zoom.

Overview of the Day

9 – 9:10 a.m. Welcome
9:10 – 9:50 a.m. Keynote Presentation: "The Vaccine and Your Family", by Michael Koster, MD 

The format of this keynote will be a 20-minute presentation followed by a 20-minute Q&A session.
9:50 – 10:30 a.m. Keynote Presentation: "Supporting Parents to Support Their Children's Mental Health", by Karen Horowitz, MD.
10:30  – 10:45 a.m. Virtual fair
10:45 – 11:30 a.m. Breakout sessions

Registration will cost $15 before Monday, March 14 and $20 thereafter. Professional development credits are available.
