Vista at Bradley Hospital is a specialized intensive outpatient program that provides comprehensive evaluation and intensive treatment for adolescents with co-occurring mental health and substance use concerns.

The program is virtual, accessed remotely online, and operates Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays from 3 to 6 p.m. This schedule provides youth with intensive services while allowing them to attend school and practice newly acquired skills in their daily lives.

Our approach uses gold-standard treatment modalities, informed by the best available research, to help teens with mental health and substance use issues.

General program treatment targets include substance use and other harmful behaviors and improvement in mental health. This intensive outpatient service can help prevent hospitalization or provide step-down services to hospitalized teens as a transition to outpatient care.

The Vista team — psychologists, psychiatrists, nurse practitioners, nurses, and behavioral health specialists — will work collaboratively to provide the highest quality services.

Our Approach

We are dedicated to helping young people improve their quality of life. Each teen and family is unique, with their distinct values, identities, needs, and goals. We are committed to helping each teen and family achieve their objectives.

Adolescents vary in their motivation to change their alcohol or other drug use; some are highly motivated for change, while others are uncertain about whether changing their use is right for them.

We strive to build a collaborative and supportive relationship that lacks judgment, emphasizes compassion, and explores each teen’s thoughts about their use. We strongly believe teens experience the most success when receiving services in an inclusive and supportive environment. We help teens build motivation for change, acquire new skills to address substance use, improve wellness and mental health, and achieve initial abstinence. We also work to improve family functioning, support, and stabilize medications when indicated.

These objectives serve as catalysts for sustaining behavior change, improving psychiatric symptoms, and preparing adolescents for a lower level of care and longer-term success.

Scope of Services

Teens and their families have frequent access to a multidisciplinary team of specialists.

Services include:

  • Individual, family, and group therapy
  • Psychiatric care
  • Additional medical and school consultations, as needed

Adolescents and their families also have the possibility of participating clinical trials of innovative behavioral and pharmacological interventions when appropriate and available.

We are a comprehensive, short-term, intensive outpatient treatment program. Each teen's length of stay depends on their individual treatment needs, but it typically lasts between one and four months.
