With a growing crisis of childhood obesity, pediatricians are seeing more overweight and obese children. At our clinic we take a multidisciplinary team approach to help children who are overweight or obese work toward a healthy weight. After thorough medical evaluation, the team provides education on diet and nutrition and encourages lifestyle changes that support weight control.

Medical Management for Obesity

Some overweight children require additional medical management of their condition. It is important to recognize those overweight or obese children who are at increased risk for diseases exacerbated by obesity. Children with family histories of cardiovascular disease, type 2 diabetes, or hypertension may experience more metabolic dysfunction that could lead to disease. To prevent complications of obesity and insulin resistance in these children, we offer comprehensive testing and treatment for obesity-associated metabolic disease.
